Raw Pet Food

Even though many pets will enjoy being on this type of primal raw pet food diet, it is important to get your pet back on their usual diet. This may mean incorporating their regular food with raw food until they become accustomed to the regular food again. Raw food diets for pets can cause other health issues such as clogged arteries, heart issues, and fatigue. While some people insist a raw food diet for a pet is better than other types of food, they are wrong.

While pets need protein, they also need other nutrients that meat and fish do not contain. The correlation between raw food and gingivitis in pets is apparent. Many vets will ask you if your pet eats too much raw meat when signs of gingivitis are present. You should cut back on the amount of raw food if possible and switch to store brands that contain raw food pieces. This will help your pet become accustomed to eating other types of pet food.

While there are pet treats and foods that contain raw meat, you should not give it to your pets on a regular basis. Many brands now contain cooked meat, which is a better alternative. Raw, freeze dried pet food is not much better. Find a store brand that offers plenty of nutrients and feed this to your pet instead of raw pet food. Their health will improve as will their life span and daily energy, which will make everyone happy.
